Aunt Clara is Samantha's ever loveable, but bumbling and forgetful aunt. She also has the distinct recognition of being one of the few of Samantha's relatives that Darrin actually liked. She was constantly causing problems when she used her magic, as her magic (or her) didn't work as she intended. After each blunder, she would forget the spell and Sam and Darrin would have to work long and hard at getting the problem resolved so that no one, especially Gladys Kravitz, discovered that magic was at work. Aunt Clara was notable for falling down the Stephens' chimney with doorknobs in her handbag.
Although Aunt Clara was Samantha's favorite aunt...we never know how the two are related. Some fans believe Clara is the elder sister of Endora...while others believe her the sister of Maurice. The major problem is that the writers never decided how Clara was related to Samantha. The only relatives of Samantha that is known for certain are: her mother, Endora; her father, Maurice, her Uncle Arthur (Endora's younger brother); her daughter, Tabitha; and her son, Adam. Other relatives are Bertha, Aunt Hagatha, Aunt Enchantra. But like Aunt Clara, we don't know how these aunts are related to Samantha. Some fans insist that Hagatha and Enchantra were Endora's sisters. But in an episode, Endora says she was an only child until Arthur was born. Samantha also has several cousins mentioned in the show. One cousin is Sabrina, who says she's cousins to Samantha on her father's side. But we have no idea of who Maurice's siblings may be because they are never mentioned. There's also Cousin Henry, who most fans assume is cousins to Samantha because he is Uncle Arthur's son. The only reasons some fans believe this is because Samantha asks Cousin Henry how Uncle Arthur is doing. It's also obvious that Cousin Henry is a joker and trickster, similar to that of Uncle Arthur. However, Uncle Arthur never mentions a wife...or even Henry.
