Bertha is Samantha's aunt. She comes to visit to discuss Halloween. She is friends with Clara and Mary, who also attend the meeting. She is talented at imitating voices. Bertha is dismayed that Samantha is trying to give up witchcraft. She is also frustrated that Clara's spells go awry.

She hates the way Halloween portrays witches as ugly and evil, and wants to find a way to change that image. Samantha says she will get Darrin to help since he is in the advertising trade.

Darrin's attempts to convince his client, Mr. Brinkman, to change his candy product image from an ugly witch to a beautiful witch fail, and Larry fires him.

Bertha is sorry that Darrin lost his job and wants to help. She, Samantha, Mary and Clara visit Mr. Brinkman in his bedroom to protest (complete with signs) his witch prejudices. They change him into an ugly witch and he changes his mind.
