Darrin and Samantha watched Clete Roberts deliver a television news report about baby Tabatha speaking fluent English. He also reported that Russia claimed to have an infant even younger than Tabatha who speaks fluent Russian.
Biography[]
Clete Roberts was an American newscaster and actor. Born in Portland, Oregon, he began his career as a war correspondent in World War II and Korea. After his war service, he settled in the Los Angeles area and became a respected television news reporter for CBS television news in Hollywood.
He also carried his broadcasting expertise on to the big screen appearing in films such as "The Swinger" (1966), "The Todd Killings" (1971), "Big Wednesday" (1978), "The Jerk" (1979) and "Testament" (1983). He is best remembered for his many roles on television to include "Columbo", "McCloud", "M*A*S*H", "Police Story" and "Simon & Simon".
He was nominated for two prime time Emmy awards - Best News Reporter or Commentator in 1955 and Best News Commentator or Reporter in 1956.
Clete Roberts died of heart and lung failure at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. He was 72. He was survived by his wife, Mary, a daughter and a son.
