Danny Bonaduce played Robert in the sixth season episode, "A Bunny for Tabitha", and Boy in the fifth season episode, "Going Ape".
Biography[]
Danny Bonaduce is an American actor. He was born Dante Daniel Bonaduce on August 13, 1959 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He is the son of veteran television writer and producer Joseph Bonaduce, who worked on The Dick Van Dyke Show, That Girl, and One Day at a Time, among other shows. His father and mother, Betty, divorced in 1972.
He started his television acting career in October 1967 when he made an appearance in the episode "Halloween's on Us" (season one, episode six) of the series Accidental Family. He had his first substantial role in The Ghost & Mrs. Muir on the first season episode Jonathan Tells It Like It Was, aired March 1, 1969. He played competitor Danny Shoemaker in a history essay contest with Mrs. Muir's son, Jonathan. Danny's father, Joseph Bonaduce, wrote the episode.
He was best known and rose to fame as a child actor in the 1970s on the television series The Partridge Family. He played the role of Danny Partridge, the middle son in the family singing group, led by his widowed mother, played by Shirley Jones. He also played the bassist in the fictional pop group. In 2003, Bonaduce was honored by the Young Artist Foundation with its Former Child Star "Lifetime Achievement" Award for his role on the series.
After The Partridge Family ended, he voiced Danny in the 1974 Saturday morning cartoon Partridge Family 2200 A.D. He also guest starred in over twenty television series, including Police Story, Eight Is Enough, Fantasy Island, CBS Afternoon Playhouse, CHIPs, The Ben Stiller Show, Diagnosis Murder, That '70s Show, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and The Kids Are Alright.
Bonaduce's film credits included Lyman D. Dayton's 1976 Baker's Hawk, Matthew Robbins' 1978 Corvette Summer, Irving Rapper's 1978 Born Again, and Gerald Seth Sindell's 1979 H.O.T.S.
In the late 1980s, Danny Bonaduce had become an on-air radio personality. He worked an overnight shift at Philadelphia's WEGX-FM. From 1994 to 1996, Bonaduce hosted his own radio show, The Danny Bonaduce Show on The Loop WLUP in Chicago. Between 1996 and 1998, Bonaduce hosted a morning radio show in Detroit on WKQI with comedian and Last Comic Standing winner John Heffron. In 1998, Bonaduce was the morning show host for New York City's Big 105 WBIX for a brief period. Bonaduce is an ordained minister - he was ordained online to perform a wedding ceremony as part of a 94WYSP radio promotion in early 2011. He has also done radio shows in Los Angeles and Philadelphia and hosted a morning talk/music show at Seattle radio station KZOK-FM from 2011 to 2023.
As an adult, Danny Bonaduce holds a black belt in karate. He also practices boxing. On April 17, 1994, he made his professional wrestling debut in Chicago. After a brief career in the ring, he competed against celebrities at charity events and was a key player in the series Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling.
In June 2023, Bonaduce announced that he would be undergoing hydrocephalus-related surgery after experiencing difficulty walking and maintaining his balance. He announced his retirement from Seattle radio and show business industry in December 2023.
Danny Bonaduce married Setsuko Hattori in 1985. They divorced in 1988. He married Gretchen Bonaduce, né Renee Hillmer, on December 6, 1990. They have two children, Isabella and Dante, born on February 14, 2001. The couple divorced on November 5, 2008. Danny Bonaduce married Amy Railsback on November 22, 2010.
