Dave Madden played Joe in the third season episode, "Super Car" (1967), and Fred in the fifth season episode, "Samantha's Shopping Spree" (1969). He played his scenes with Herb Ellis in both episodes.

Biography[]

David Joseph Madden was born on December 17, 1931, in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. He began his career as a standup comedian and made guest appearances on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In, Bewitched, Happy Days, The Love Boat, and Fantasy Island. But he is best remembered as harried band manager Reuben Kincaid on The Partridge Family.

From 1970 to 1974, Madden starred alongside Shirley Jones and David Cassidy in the beloved sitcom about a widowed mother [Jones] and her five children who start a successful family band. Madden’s character dealt with the antics of the kids, especially Danny, who was played by Danny Bonaduce.

After his memorable role on the 1970s series, Madden went on to appear in other popular television shows through the 1990s, such as Boy Meets World and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. In 2009, he published a memoir, Reuben on Wry: The Memoirs of Dave Madden.

Madden died of congestive heart and kidney failure on January 16, 2014. He lived in Fruit Cove, Florida with his wife, Sandy. He was survived by his wife and children.[2]

Madden voiced the role of Ram in Charlotte's Web (1973), which also starred Bewitched alumni Herb Vigran, Henry Gibson, Paul Lynde, Don Messick, Agnes Moorehead, Pamelyn Ferdin and his Partridge Family co-star, Danny Bonaduce.[3]
