Helen Slote Levitt was a writer on Bewitched. She and her husband, Alfred Lewis Levitt, co-wrote the fourth season episode, Samantha's Thanksgiving to Remember (1967). She was credited as Helen August.
Blacklist
Her husband was blacklisted for his involvement with the Communist Party by the House Un-American Activities Committee in 1951, but was not charged with any crime. The subpoena was so damaging to his career, however, that he used an assumed name, Tom August, for almost twenty years after his hearing. Helen Levitt used the name Helen August for the screenplays they wrote together. Later, her husband led the effort to restore blacklisted writers' original names to film credits.
