Herb Wallerstein was a director on the Tabitha television series. He directed the episode, That New Black Magic (1977).


Herbert Wallerstein was an American director and producer. He was born on November 28, 1925 in New York City.

His directing career in television and film began in the 1950s and lasted until the late 1970s.

His assistant director credits include The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin, Father Knows Best, Hazel, Bewitched and The Farmer's Daughter. His director credits include The Farmer's Daughter, Iron Horse, Star Trek, Gunsmoke, The New Temperatures Rising Show (starring Paul Lynde), The Partridge Family, Happy Days, Petrocelli, The Oregon Trail, Wonder Woman and The Six Million Dollar Man.[2]

In 1978, Wallerstein began working for 20th Century Fox. He served as the Senior Vice President of Feature Film Production. He oversaw the production of films such as Alien, 9 to 5 and The Verdict. He retired from Fox in the winter of 1984.[3]

On September 27, 1985, Herb Wallerstein was murdered by his housekeeper, Mayre Melendez Lopez, who beat her employer with a baseball bat, then, trying to cover up her crime, dumped his body in a car and set the vehicle on fire. Lopez claimed that she acted out of self-defense, and was not found guilty in any of the manslaughter charges. Wallerstein was 59 at the time of his death.[4]
