Ivor Barry played the Chamberlain in the court of King Henry VIII of England in the season eight two-parter, "How Not to Lose Your Head to King Henry VIII (Part 1)" and "(Part 2)" (1971).

Biography[]

Ivor Phillips Barry was a British character actor of television, film and stage. He was born in 1919 to William and Lily Barry in Dowlais, Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales. After serving six years as an officer in the Royal Artillery during World War II, he emigrated to Canada in 1953 where he became active in early Canadian live television and stage productions.

Moving to Hollywood in 1965, he enjoyed a good run of distinguished film, television and stage work for the next twenty-four years. He also received the honor of membership into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 1974.

Ivor Barry passed away of heart failure on December 12, 2006 at the Motion Picture and Television Home in Woodland Hills. His wife, Helen Joy Brameld, predeceased him in 1991. He was survived by his daughter Bronwen with whom he had a close and loving relationship. He was also survived by his nephew Gordon Barry and family of Pembrokshire, South Wales.

Though he wanted no funeral, a small delightful memorial was held at the Motion Picture and Television Lodge on Monday, December 18, 2006.
