Biography[]
Jean Fleming is a motion picture producer, screenwriter and actress. She produced and co-wrote a full-length docudrama dealing with medical marijuana and the drug war.
Jean Fleming started life in a two room shack located on the Mississippi River Delta in Blytheville, Arkansas, as the daughter of a share cropper. She picked cotton at the age of four helping her parents eke out a living. Later, her parents moved to Chicago where, while in high school, Jean participated in plays and talent shows. After being selected by the Chicago Tribune as "Chicago's Most Beautiful Teenager," she began a successful modeling career.
She attended Lake Forest College as a drama major and was featured in many television commercials for Chicago’s major advertising agencies. She appeared as Miss Illinois in the Miss America Beauty Pageant in Atlantic City. The Chicago Press Photographers Association picked her as "Miss Photoflash" and sent her to Hollywood where she appeared with Jack Webb in the Warner Bros. movie "The D. I."
Her movie and television career then began in earnest. Her next motion picture was "This Earth Is Mine" for Universal, starring Rock Hudson and Jean Simmons. While under contract to Twentieth Century Fox, she became "Mayor of Universal City" and guest starred on several television shows including Bewitched, Laugh In, 77 Sunset Strip, Route 66, Dobie Gillis, Sugarfoot, Green Acres, Margie, Bat Masterson, Baretta, The Roaring 20’s, and many others. She became a regular on the daytime soap, "Search For Tomorrow".
Jean Fleming devotes much of her time to charity work and civic causes as well as helping young people get a foothold in the film industry.
She is married to attorney and civic leader, David Fleming.
