Richard Kinon was a director on Bewitched. He directed eight episodes for the series (1967).

Biography[]

Richard J. Kinon was an American director and screenwriter. He was born on August 17, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York, but grew up in Beverly Hills, California. The house he was living in until his death was built in the 1920s and owned by his parents.

He began his career in Hollywood when he was hired as a screenwriter for the studios in the late 1940s. He worked primarily as an uncredited script supervisor on several films including Joseph Losey's 1948 The Boy with Green Hair, Don Siegel's 1949 The Big Steal, and Don Hartman's 1949 Holiday Affair.

In the mid-1950s, he turned to directing. Between 1955 and 1988, he guided more than three hundred episodes of seventy television series, including Four Star Playhouse (ten episodes), Cavalcade of America (four episodes), Chevron Hall of Stars (four episodes), Mr. Adams and Eve (eleven episodes), The Thin Man (five episodes), Dante (thirteen episodes), The Gertrude Berg Show (thirteen episodes), Ensign O'Toole (nine episodes), Harry's Girl (twelve episodes), The Rogues (four episodes), Burke's Law (six episodes), Perry Mason (four episodes), The Patty Duke Show (seven episodes), The Farmer's Daughter (eleven episodes), Please Don't Eat Daisies (four episodes), Occasional Wife (ten episodes), The Second Hundred Years (thirteen episodes), I Dream of Jeannie (one episode), The Flying Nun (three episodes), Here Come the Brides (eight episodes), Hogan's Heroes (twelve episodes), That Girl (eighteen episodes), Nanny and the Professor (nine episodes), Room 222 (eight episodes), The Doris Day Show (five episodes), Bridget Loves Bernie (nine episodes), The Girl with Something Extra (six episodes), The Partridge Family (thirteen episodes), Wonder Woman (one episode), Family (twenty-three episodes), Dynasty (one episode), Fame (three episodes), The Love Boat (sixty-five episodes), and Hotel (four episodes).

He was nominated in 1959 for an Primetime Emmy Award for Best Direction of a Single Program of a Comedy Series for the Mr. Adams and Eve episode "The Interview" (season 2, episode 36).

After retiring from show business, he sojourned for many years on the Côte d'Azur.

Richard Kinon died on March 11, 2004 in Beverly Hills, California. He was 79.
