Roger Torrey played boxing champ "Jolting Joe" Kovacks in the second season episode, Fastest Gun on Madison Avenue (1966).

BiographyEdit

Roger Pugmire Torrey was an American actor. He was seen on many television shows from the 1960s through the 1980s and was perhaps best known for his recurring role on "The Beverly Hillbillies" as Mark Templeton, Elly May's frogman boyfriend. He was the producers' original choice to portray Jethro Bodine on that show before losing the role to Max Baer, Jr.

Torrey appeared in numerous episodes of "The Iron Horse," "Gunsmoke" and "The Dukes of Hazzard" teleseries. He did guest shots on "Route 66," "Wagon Train," "Bonanza," "Mister Ed," "Bewitched," "Mannix," "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis," "The Virginian," "Adam 12" and "Father Murphy." He also appeared in a few motion pictures, including "The Plunderers" (1960), "The Nun and the Sergeant" (1962), The Nutty Professor" (1963, as a football player) and "Town Tamer" (1965).[2]

Roger Torrey died at the young age of 47 due to a brain aneurysm.[3] He was married to Jean Sanders.[4]
