Plot[]

Endora casts a spell on Darrin, making him a compulsive gambling addict after learning that her son-in-law refused a tip from Abner Kravitz on the daily double for the horse races. She casts another spell on Tabitha's toy horse, making it the source of winning bets on the daily double at the local track. Samantha finds her husband on the rocking horse and asks him what he is doing. His answers are strange and he leaves. Sam investigates further with Tabitha and discovers what Endora has done, but her mother refuses to remove the spell. Soon, Darrin's gaming career takes over his life. He convinces Larry and Mr. Spengler, a spendthrift client, on these bets as sure things, while Endora reverses the spell so that Darrin loses the race. To counter her mother's plan, Samantha goes to the stables and turns the horse Count of Valor into a human to tell him that he should be ashamed of himself for not winning, but he reveals that he is depressed because his owners are going to put him out to pasture. However, the horse handler tells Sam if the Count does not win this race, he is going to the glue factory. This revelation puts a jolt in the Count of Valor who will win his race.

Trivia[]

General[]

  • The title of this episode is a takeoff from Melvyn Leroy's 1936 comedy movie Three Men on a Horse, adapted from the 1935 play of the same name written by George Abbott and John Cecil Holm, about a mild-mannered greeting card poet who has the uncanny ability to pick winners in horse races.
  • Partial remake of Season Two's "The Horse's Mouth".
