William Redfield portrayed Adam Newlarkin, Darrin's old Army buddy, in the second season episode, "We're in for a Bad Spell" (1965).


A founding member of the Actor's Studio, William Redfield was an accomplished actor who made his Broadway debut in 1936 at the age of 9. He continued working steadily on Broadway appearing in such productions as "Our Town" while branching out into both radio and movies.

During the 1950's he added television where he was a co-creator of the "Mr. Peepers" television series and starred in two short run series "Jimmy Hughes Rookie Cop" (1953) and "The Marriage" (1954). He made guest appearances on numerous other shows and is credited with creating while continuing to work on Broadway.

Through the 1960's and 1970's, he appeared in movies (such as "Fantastic Voyage", "The Hot Rock" and "For Pete's Sake"), Broadway (appearing in productions such as "A Man for All Seasons" and "You Know I Can't Hear You When the Water's Running") and television (playing Floyd, Felix Unger's younger brother in the "Odd Couple" series).

His biggest role was in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" playing the role of "Harding", Jack Nicholson's antagonist. During the filming, however, he was diagnosed with Leukemia. Redfield died a year after the film was released.[2]
